What to Think About When Putting Together a Brochure

When you are trying to improve the exposure of your company, there are plenty of different tactics that you can employ. There are certain firms that have the budgets necessary to invest in spectacular television advertisements; unfortunately, this costs an excessive amount of money and is likely to be out of the question for many businesses. We offer affordable alternatives to our customers to ensure everyone can promote their brand. If you would like to keep your expenses to a minimum, you could turn your attention towards portable literature. If you were attending an event or tradeshow, everywhere you go, you would see leaflet dispensers and brochure racks. Should this type of display be of interest to you, our VKF Renzel experts have taken the liberty of breaking down factors to consider when building your perfect brochure.

Your Budget
Despite having already stipulated that brochures are typically seen as a cheaper alternative to other modern marketing strategies, this is not to say that you can simply disregard finances. Printing costs must be factored into the equation when you are drawing up the plans for your brochure. If money is a little tight at the moment, you might want to keep your brochure small. The less pages you have to worry about, the easier it will be to mass-produce advertising materials that can subsequently be put in your reception areas. Furthermore, smaller more concise brochures have a more focused overall message/promotion, as brochures with too much information can overload readers.

If brochures are simply out of the pricing range of your marketing budget, you could opt in for a more affordable alternative, such as flyers. These are much more affordable to produce and can be used for a host of events, or alternatively used as a handout at your place of business. Again, these will have a focused message and can directly reflect the best aspects of your business.

Your Target Audience
It is fair to say that one of the key elements that impact the content included in your brochure is the audience that you are trying to entice. You know your target audience best, so you are aware of the key information you need to include. However, we would recommend making use of plenty of pictures, using brand colors and having a concise but clear layout. Your brochure needs to reflect your brand values and what your company is all about. On the front cover, you need something that will stand out, otherwise yours will be lost amongst the plethora of options out there. We would recommend also featuring key products as your best sellers, as these will be easy recognisable to existing customers and show new customers what your business predominantly does.

Your Sizing
If you were under the impression that in order for a brochure to be successful, it needs to be A4 in size, think again. Predominately, it is recommended using A4 as it is the industry stand size for catalogues. This is as A4 is a familiar page size. However, there are those that do opt in for other sizes. Portfolio based catalogues may choose to have an A5 size, as these are usually image based. Whatever size you go for, we have the display equipment to support you.

Spellings and Grammar
This should go without saying, but we really feel the need to reinforce the fact that your brochures copy must be airtight before sending it to print. Any spelling mistakes will reflect harshly on your brand, because it comes across as unprofessional. Your competitors certainly won’t be making any spelling mistakes – so you must ensure you check, check and check again to guarantee you make no errors. We'd also recommend having one or two other people read the content, as the creator can typically skim past some minor mistakes.

If you were to take sub-par brochures to trade shows, for instance, it would be glaringly obvious that your business is unprepared and unprofessional. Don’t forget that tradeshows/exhibition are many potential consumers first exposure to your company. Your brochure would quickly be picked apart by industry experts, making your investment in attending a tradeshow a waste. So, be sure to make sure there are no grammatical errors in your brochures!

How Can We Help You?
Although actually producing a quality brochure will be your main focus, you also need to be mindful of how you distribute it to your audience. Some people may believe that in order to get the most out of leaflets and brochures, you need to distribute them face-to-face; this is not the opinion of the VKF Renzel team. We believe a mix of both is best and that is why we offer our customers such a diverse range of leaflet and brochure holders. We have all sorts of leaflet holders on offer, such as our wall-mounted literature dispenser which has routinely proven to be a massive hit. In case you were wondering, we have plenty of standing leaflet holders and brochure stands featured within our catalogue too. To see these for yourself, please check out our full range on our website and feel free to give us a call on 01527 878311 or email us at sales@vkf-renzel.co.uk to discuss you specific needs further.
